Welcome

Welcome to Our Lady of Lourdes Convent Chapel of the Canossian Sisters of Sacramento. This is where we gather each morning and evening, to pray lauds and vespers in union with the Universal Church. We begin each day with the Angelus, the Morning Offering of our whole Day for the Holy Father’s Intentions, and pray to our Heavenly Father for a fidelity to the our charismatic roots grounded in Christ Crucified and our Lady of Sorrows.

Our Foundress, St. Magdalene of Canossa wrote in the first Rule for the Daughters of Charity, “Prayer is the exercise by which the soul draws close to the Lord. By thus learning to know him in some way, she becomes evermore disposed, and evermore enkindled with the desire, to love Him…in order to carry out more easily the first great Commandment of Charity, the Sisters are recommended  the practice of Mental Prayer of the Heart, certainly not less than half an hour in the morning and half an hour in the evening.”

Please feel free to share your prayer intentions/requests, and we will bring these before the Lord during our times of prayer, uniting our intentions to yours, for the Glory of God.

As this site develops, we will be adding more pages and pictures of our community, and will link them here:

  1. I’m so excited to see this! The crucifix is beautiful. The story that lovely Sister Lisa shared with me is even more beautiful. I’m excited to see what this website develops into and I’m so blessed to be connected to the Canossian Sisters. United in prayer. God Bless <3

  2. Thanks for this ministry of prayer! I am a wife/mom of three including a 3 month old. I work outside the home and my husband is deployed to Hawaii for support of Japanese. All the kids and I are sick, and the baby isn’t sleeping much. I am beyond exhausted. Please pray for healing and for rest so I might be renewed to better mother these precious kids who are missing their daddy right now. Thank you so very much. Trying to stay faithful in my own prayer but am wrestling with the depression, anger and impatience that come with extreme fatigue too.

    • Dearest Pauline – I will add your prayer needs to our book of intercessions, and will remember you at morning prayer and Mass. Be certain that the Lord is close to us, especially when we feel weak and down-hearted. He loves you and your family deeply. Take consolation in this.

  3. Thank you for the offer of prayer….I have a daughter who is extremely angry and says terribly mean things to her sister and me. I cannot repeat them here. I believe that she has been conditioned by her father and his current wife. She is with child and I fear she is not only hurting herself with the negativity, but passing it on to her baby. I love this child, and have to distance myself from her terribly negative emotions. It hurts my heart. I have to Let Go and Let God. Thank you for your prayers…they are much needed.

    • Be assured of our prayers, Cynthia. There are so many hurting families, and our hearts really go out to you during this difficult time.
Here is a prayer that might console you:

O Heavenly Father, I commend my children to Your care. Be their God and Father; and mercifully supply whatever is lacking in me through frailty or negligence. Strengthen them to overcome the corruptions of the world, whether from within or without; and deliver them from the secret snares of the enemy. Pour Your grace into their hearts, and strengthen and multiply in them the gifts of Thy Holy Spirit, that they may daily grow in grace and in knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ; and so, faithfully serving You here, may they come to rejoice in Your presence hereafter. Amen.

You might find consolation, too, in the story of Saint Rita of Cascia, who had an abusive husband and her two sons were pulled away from her influence by her in-laws. Ask her to pray for you and your situation. We will ask too.
United in Prayer, Sr. Lisa Marie

      • Thank you, Sr. Lisa…..your words soothe my heart and soul. I will continue to pray for her. Bless you!

    • Yes, Dymphna, we will pray for you and for your whole family. May our dear Lord in His mercy, heal each of you, both physically and spiritually, so to enjoy the fruits of redemption paid already through Jesus. United in prayer.
p.s. You may find consolation, and help for your son by reading this blog, by a former atheist, who converted to Catholicism. A beautiful testimony.
